Flatwater Activities

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing paddle or an opportunity to build your skills, Montgomery Whitewater’s lower pond offers an experience for every level of adventurer. Choose from Flatwater for calm-water exploration or Flatwater + Current for the added challenge of paddling against a moving current. Guests may enjoy the pond on kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUP), or duckies (inflatable kayaks).

Guests may explore the lower pond in a variety of watercraft, including kayaks, duckies (inflatable kayaks), and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs). Each offers a unique way to experience the water, whether you’re looking for comfort, stability, or a new challenge. Book in-person at Guest Service. Online booking not available. Hours may be viewed on our calendar.

All watercraft and required safety equipment are provided. Guests wishing to use their own personal flotation device (PFD) must ensure it is U.S. Coast Guard-approved and rated as Type III or higher. Flatwater + current participants must wear the provided helmet.

No Lifeguard on duty. Swimming is strictly prohibited. No inflatables allowed.

Shoes with a secure back strap are REQUIRED.
No Crocs, Croc-style shoes, flip-flops, or slides.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Montgomery Whitewater will suspend all activities if inclement weather is detected within an 8-mile radius. Activities will resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike or once inclement weather clears the area. If the weather causes you to miss the majority of your trip, please visit Guest Services on the day of your trip to book another time slot at no extra charge, or we can offer a complimentary return rain check. Certain rules and restrictions apply.

Rules & Restrictions:

  • Rain-check will be issued from Guest Services, located at Base Camp
  • Season Passes do not qualify, as they have unlimited visits and can return on another day

We provide kayaks, boards, paddles, and life vests.

If you bring your own PFD, it must be rated Type III. You may bring your own ducky, flatwater kayak, or SUP.

Flatwater + Current participants must wear the provided helmet.

Secure footwear must be worn. No crocs. Wear a bathing suit and bring a change of clothes in case you get wet.
