Whitewater Rafting

Montgomery Whitewater’s massive, recirculating river system is divided into two channels. Our Creek and Competition Channels include class II-IV whitewater activities.

Perfect for beginners to intermediate paddlers and rafters, the channels mimic a natural river. The 2,200-foot-long Creek Channel is designed for a Class II whitewater experience and is an excellent introduction to whitewater. A step up from the Creek Channel, the 1,600-foot-long Competition Channel is an incredible playground for those with more advanced skills and is ideal for even the novice rafter looking to take on bigger rapids. Both channels intersect in the lower pond to the takeout or back up the conveyor belt for another run!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Montgomery Whitewater will suspend all activities if inclement weather is detected within an 8-mile radius. Activities will resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike or once inclement weather clears the area. If the weather causes you to miss the majority of your trip, please visit Guest Services on the day of your trip to book another time slot at no extra charge, or we can offer a complimentary return rain check. Certain rules and restrictions apply.

Rules & Restrictions:

  • Rain-check will be issued from Guest Services, located at Base Camp
  • Season Passes do not qualify, as they have unlimited visits and can return on another day

The ability to swim is not required to whitewater raft but is highly recommended. You’ll wear a life vest and helmet at all times while on the water but may be momentarily submerged through rapids. Although there is no maximum weight limit for whitewater rafting, all guests must be able to fit in a life vest which allows for a 55” limit chest size.

A helmet, lifevest, and paddle are provided on each rafting trip.

Bring a change of clothes. You’ll probably get soaked! Wear a bathing suit and secure footwear. Shoes must have a backstrap—no crocs or flip-flops. Rental Shoes are available for $10. Changing room and lockers provided on site.

Check-in or book your trip at Basecamp with Guest Services at least 30 minutes prior to your 90-minute raft trip. After check-in, you’ll head across the bridge to the Raft Barn. Continue to one of the covered bench areas, where you will sit through a quick safety talk and meet your raft guide.
